The Mountain

A community at the edge of visibility.

The Mountain records a small mountain community through its quiet daily presence — people, spaces, and objects shaped by repetitive labor and long-term inhabitation.
The approach is not documentary; rather than narrating a way of life, the work observes presence as a material condition.

Landscape, bodies, and constructions function as carriers of time.
Labor is inscribed into terrain, tools, and gestures, forming structures that exist between use and decay.

The use of an old large-format camera and expired instant film embeds time directly into the material of the image. Chemical instability, surface degradation, and visual imperfections are not aesthetic effects but integral components of the project’s conceptual framework.

The Mountain examines forms of life that persist under conditions of remoteness and gradual disappearance — not through nostalgia, but through the recording of material traces left by presence at the threshold.
